Samsung Galaxy Note 9 leaked image could push fans to wait for the S10 insteadJuly 14, 2018
The image of the Note 9, posted by Android Headlines who claimed it was sent to them by a “reliable source”, shows the latest phablet will look incredibly similar to the Note 8.
This means many fans could decide to skip the Note 9 and instead opt to wait for the Galaxy S10 next year that is tipped to have a major redesign.
Although no details have been confirmed about the S10’s design, rumours have pointed to the flagship sporting extremely reduced bezels and featuring a fingerprint sensor under the display.
Reliable leaker Ice Universe recently insisted the S10 will come in three variants, with the top tier models offering the latest and greatest technologies.
And a new concept video of the phone emerged via DBS Designing that showed what the S10 could look like if Samsung decides to remove bezels completely.
But the render of the Galaxy Note 9 shows the front of the device will sport extremely similar sized bezels to last year’s Note 8 and will once again feature a button dedicated to Bixby.
Bixby is Samsung’s virtual assistant designed to rival the likes of Apple’s Siri and the Google Assistant.
The report hints the Note 9’s bezels could be slightly smaller than the Galaxy Note 8, however the change would not be significant.
When the Galaxy S9 and S9+ both launched, they featured smaller bezels than their respective predecessors.
The Galaxy S9 featured a top bezel 0.48millimetres smaller than the standard Galaxy S8 while the bottom bezel was 0.76millimetres smaller.
Meanwhile the Galaxy S9+ saw its top bezel shaved by 0.39millimetres while its bottom saw a reduction of 1.01millimetres.
Neither phones cut off enough bezel to be immediately noticeable though.
Android Headlines also points out the trademark Note S Pen could be more flush with the device this time around.
The Note 8’s accessory could be seen deviating from the bottom of the device if the user looked hard enough.
However, the render suggests the Note 9 will sport an even more seamless design than its predecessor.
The Note’s S Pen appears set for a major upgrade when Samsung unveils the Galaxy Note 9 at its “Unpacked” event on August 9.
Press invitations to the show in New York City featured an image of the signature S Pen in a new gold colour.
It has been rumoured the accessory could feature Bluetooth support that could allow for new functionality such as music playback to be adjusted through the S Pen.
