ASUS ZenFone 5z finally goes on sale in Europe; priced lower than the OnePlus 6June 14, 2018
At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this year, ASUS introduced its first flagship smartphone with an iPhone X-style notch at the top, the ZenFone 5z. While the smartphone was announced back in February, it took the company almost four months to get it on sale. The smartphone is now available in Europe and is set to go on sale in Japan later this week.
ASUS ZenFone 5z: Price, Availability
The ASUS ZenFone 5z 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at €500 (Rs.39,700 approx.) in Europe, making it the most affordable Snapdragon 845-powered smartphone in the old continent. For reference, the OnePlus 6 64GB variant is priced at €520 in Europe. ASUS is also offering a variant with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of onboard storage, priced at €600 (Rs.47,700 approx.). The ZenFone 5z comes in two colors – Midnight Blue, and Meteor Silver.
ASUS ZenFone 5z: Specifications, Features
The ASUS ZenFone 5z sports a 6.2-inch notched IPS display with 1080 x 2246 Full HD+ resolution and 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 845 chipset clocked at 2.7 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU, paired with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone is available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage variants.
When it comes to optics, the ZenFone 5z is equipped with a dual 12MP + 8MP camera setup with phase detection autofocus and a dual-LED flash. For selfies, the ZenFone 5z includes an 8MP snapper on the front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE. The smartphone also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, DTS Headphone X, and a 3300mAh capacity battery with 18W fast charging support. As for the software, ZenFone 5z ships with the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.
