Unifor Local 444 president Dave Cassidy is hopeful his union will reach a tentative agreement with Caesars Windsor by Thursday morning.
“We’ll keep talking through the night,” Cassidy said Wednesday as negotiators took a dinner break. “Both sides want an end to this.”
Striking Caesars Windsor employees have been on strike for 41 days. The last strike in 2004 lasted 42 days.
The two sides began this round of negotiations Tuesday behind closed doors with a provincial conciliator, but have yet to finalize an agreement.
The 2,300 workers walked off the job on April 6, when 59 per cent of union members voted down a tentative agreement between management and Local 444’s bargaining team.
Caesars has postponed all events and cancelled all hotel reservations for the rest of May.
